This album manifests Moses’ deep dive into the variety of styles that have evolved in Memphis and North Mississippi for the last century, and his emotional connection to the fundamental and vital element that they all share. Moses calls Blues “Earth Music” and describes it this way: “You have to feel it to do it right. That can’t be taught. Blues is intended to be medicinal, spiritual, radical, and visceral. It is meant to be just as effective to the player as it is to the listener. For me, making this recording was a powerful and emotional experience. I hope the listener can feel it too.
